Before Darkness (Or Zarua)

before darkness and light
there was chaos and void
the spirit hovered over the face of the water
enjoyed the friction,
the dynamic tension of the diction
inscriptin' encrypted codes and depictions
you’ll miss it if you try to understand or comprehend
by definition just beyond where the mind can extend
yet so close it’s right under your nose
the sun’s right behind those clouds
givin’ birth to rainbows

Or Zarua la’tza-a-dik
Ul’yishrei lev simcha

the world comes into being
through an act of lovingkindness
we’re held in the balance by a thread of nothingness
without what — b’limah — begs the question,
the answer remains hidden eagerly awaits expression
iridescent introspection destined for the rite of passage
from acid trips to magik tricks
I learned to preach my practice
I found you looking for myself
and gave up seeking sadly
now the whole world sings
don’t worry be happy

Or Zarua la’tza-a-dik
Ul’yishrei lev simcha

Yai dai dai...

the light that surrounds us shines from within
what comes first the beginning or the end
does it matter or is it just mutant messages
musical medicine that the truth is embedded in
kodesh baruch hu becomes immanent,
existential evidence, shekhina is present tense,
just let her in
the decisions of a human are conditioned
by tradition, intuition and infinite wisdom

Or Zarua la’tza-a-dik
Ul’yishrei lev simcha

Yai dai dai...
